On Saturday, March 22, Jim Richärd, FAIA, founding partner of RICHÄRD KENNEDY ARCHITECTS, delivered a keynote address as part of AIA International’s online lecture series. Titled Genius Loci – Sense of Place in Trailblazing Architecture, the event featured Richärd in conversation with Arne Emerson, Design Partner at Morphosis — a Los Angeles-based architecture practice.

The lecture explored how architecture can embody the spirit of place—its genius loci—through design that is both contextually grounded and forward-looking. Drawing on decades of experience in civic, cultural, and diplomatic projects, Richärd discussed the firm’s approach to creating architecture that fosters connection, resilience, and a deep sense of belonging.

This event was part of AIA International’s ongoing efforts to foster global dialogue on the role of architecture in shaping meaningful, place-based experiences.
